Here at Santiago High School, we are committed to excellence in academics, athletics and the performing arts. Santiago High Choirs are award winning and committed to high level performances adn travel experiences. There are four choir classes offered at SHS - Concert Choir, Baritone Choir, Treble Ensemble, and Madrigals.

Our goal for students in choir is to achieve musical excellence through working together, learning good musicianship skills and rehearsing each day to achieve outstanding performance. Choir at Santiago is an overall fun experience for any SHS student with an interest or passion for vocal Music!

Rachelle Randeen

Director

Rachelle Randeen earned her B.S. in Music Education from the University of Northwestern and a master's in education from Bethel University. Her teaching career began at a middle school in Minnesota and then California. While her children were young, Rachelle taught music part-time at a private school and stepped back into public music education in 2009 in Los Alamitos. In 2017 she was hired at Norco High in 2017, transferring to Santiago HS in 2023. Mrs. Randeen has served the choral community as Jr. High Repertoire/State Honor Choir Chair (MCDA) and Southern California Vocal Association President Elect, President and Past President. Rachelle was honored as “Teacher of the Year” in 2016 and again in 2020. In her free time, Mrs. Randeen enjoys spending time with her husband and three adult children.

Kaylee Tong

Accompanist

Kaylee Tong earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from California Baptist University in May 2022. Residing in Chino Hills, she has been teaching piano to young children, teens and adults for nearly 7 years. Upon completing all levels in the Music Teachers Association of California’s Certificate of Merit piano program in 2009-2018 and earning 3 Soloist Trophies in the NFMC piano festival at age 10, she then pursued vocal performance in high school, serving as student choral director. While pursuing her degree, she served as CBU’s collaborative pianist and Alto section leader for the Camerata Choir for 3 years. Kaylee joined MTAC Diamond Bar in 2023 and aspires to use music to honor God and commemorate her mother, who never failed to attend every piano recital, exam, and ceremony.

Eric Carampatan

Vocal Coach

Eric Carampatan has been performing as a baritone soloist worldwide. As a champion of new music, he has performed as a soloist, premiered in roles such as comic operas, as well as more serious roles. Desiring to inspire the next generation, Opera in the Schools with Opera Santa Barbara has afforded Caramaptan countless opportunities to provide school age children their first classical music encounter. When working with vocalists in his studio, Mr. Carampatan ensures that his students consistently receive top awards at the regional, state and national levels. He maintains full studio rosters at both Masters’ California Baptist Universities. Carampatan holds a BM from Azusa Pacific University School of Music in Los Angeles, CA.

J.R. Gooseberry

Choreographer

J.R. was born and raised in California. After high school, he toured worldwide with The Young Americans performing and teaching throughout twenty countries. He has performed alongside many stars, and also danced with Calliopus Contemporary Dance and the Contempo Ballet Company. J.R. taught at a performing arts high school where he built the dance department, increasing male participation from just 3 to over 50! In addition, he has worked as the Associate Director and Choreographer for The Young Americans and HEART Global. His choreography ranges from jazz and hip-hop to musicals, circus-style shows, and show choirs. He is currently in his senior year at UNLV earning his BFA in Dance for the Professional Dancer.
